Nevada County Reads! kicks off today

The inaugural “Nevada County Reads” event is scheduled for 4 p.m. tonight at the old 49er firehouse at the corner of Highway 49 and Coyote Street in Nevada City.

The event kicks off a county-wide effort to read Ray Bradbury’s classic “Fahrenheit 451,” a futuristic look at the world that centers on censorship.

Entertainment and food will be provided at the event.

The event also includes a special video appearance by Bradbury.

The event begins a weeks-long series of lectures, discussions and guest appearances by authors, including sci-fi maven Kim Stanley Robinson.
