The Melchings lived in Los Angeles after the war while Mr. Melching worked as a structural dynamics engineer for Douglas Aircraft, the El Segundo Division, and later for The Aerospace Corp. in El Segundo. They lived in Redondo Beach for 37 years before settling in Lake Wildwood in 1987.

Mr. Melching enjoys sailing and is an avid bowler. He has been a member of SIRS for 20 years.

Mrs. Melching enjoys sewing and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She has been a member of TOPS since 1970.

The Melchings have three children: Carl and his wife Lorrel, Patti Ryan and her husband Edwin, and Paul Melching. They also have three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

The Melchings will celebrate their anniversary with family and friends.
