Nevada County Fair wins awards

The Nevada County Fair took the Sweepstakes Award in Marketing and Communications at the recent Western Fairs Association convention in San Diego.

In addition to the overall honor, the fair won eight first-place awards for promotions, including the Draft Horse Classic poster, the Draft Horse Classic program, print advertising, and the new competitive exhibit category, vying with 150 other fairs for the honors.

Five second-place wins and eight third-place trophies also were awarded to the Nevada County Fair in San Diego.

Ed Scofield, CEO of the Nevada County Fair, paid tribute to the fair’s designer, Renee Glenn of Nevada City, for creating the Draft Horse Classic poster; to Steve Reynolds of North Star Printing in Grass Valley, whose firm produced the poster; to Don Baumgart, writer and marketing coordinator; and to Craig Hoddy, sponsorship director and Draft Horse Classic program producer.

“These talented professionals and our hard-working staff make fairgrounds’ events highly successful, year after year.” The Nevada County Fair events are constant winners at the yearly WFA awards ceremonies.
