Need to retire a flag?

Since Sept. 11, many American flags have been bought and displayed in support of our nation’s war against terrorism. Flags that have become tattered and torn should be retired in a respectable flag retirement ceremony.

American Legion Post 130 Grass Valley California will be sponsoring, with support of all veterans organizations, an American flag retirement ceremony later this year.

Anyone wishing to retire an American flag can take the flag to the Veterans Service Office, located in the Veterans Memorial Building on 225 South Auburn St., Grass Valley. The flags will be turned over to the American Legion Post Service Officer.

Drop off places with local businesses in Grass Valley and Nevada City will be coordinated soon.
