Need a stop light on Highway 49

If drivers were all safe and courteous, there would simply be no need for any traffic regulation whatsoever. However, in the real world, drivers vary in skill and caution, and thus policy must be designed around the lowest common denominator, or at least the average driver.

If murders were rampant, would one say, “People should just stop murdering people?” It’s a non sequitur, given that they are, what can we do about it? The section of highway including LaBarr Meadows and Alta Sierra is one of the most dangerous section in this county – I have to pull out of there every morning, sometimes through two lanes of traffic due to the way my driveways are configured.

A stop light at any point would stop the near ceaseless traffic coming from Nevada City towards Sacramento and Auburn, and would allow residents of the area to enter the highway – they cannot simply “go to Alta Sierra.”
