Stacey Grimes, a 19-year-old Sierra College freshman, has been running track since the sixth grade and started working out seriously with free weights and machines when she was 16 years old.

Now a member of the Sierra College women’s soccer team and employee at Club Sierra Sports & Fitness in Grass Valley, Stacey offers her Top 10 reasons for working out.

1) For fun. It’s what I love to do.

2) To stay toned and strong.

3) Competition.

4) Physical appearance: The better shape I’m in, the better I feel.

5) To stay healthy.

6) Self confidence: Every day that I work out is a little more boost of confidence added to my self-esteem.

7) The challenge of pushing myself to go harder, even when I just don’t want to.

8) For endurance and stamina.

9) To burn off those unwanted fat calories in those unwanted spots.

10) I can’t pass up the opportunity when I work at a gym.
