Top 10 Reasons to try international folk dancing this fall:

10. Be ready to join dances they do at Greek parties and weddings.

9. Enjoy the glossy hardwood floor of Nevada City United Methodist Church’s classic Fellowship Hall.

8. Hear George sing in six or seven different languages – he can even translate the lyrics.

7. If you have two left feet, that’s OK. We teach the basics early each evening.

6. Hear Village Folk Orkestra blast out live music once each month.

5. Feel more connected to other countries and peoples and centuries-old traditions.

4. Enjoy dancing in circles and lines.

3. Just listening is great, too – swinging tunes, gentle ones, soulful ones with some crazy rhythms.

2. There’s snacks, drinks, breaks for conversation.

1. It looked like fun at the Olympics, and this is handier.

The Nevada County Folkdancers hosts Friday dances on Sept. 24, Oct. 8, 15, 22 and Nov. 5, 12 and 19 at the Nevada City United Methodist Church. For more information call 272-2149.
