Mural looks great

I feel I need to write and say how positively surprised I was when I saw the great choice of mural for the Del Oro Theatre.

What excited me about John Pugh’s design was that it presented the illusion of looking through the wall. The thought of looking into something that usually is hidden is to me refreshing and not the “normal” mural. The fact that it is a mineshaft makes it even more appropriate for Grass Valley. Our history is not immediately visible but that doesn’t mean it is not here. What an excellent idea to “crack” that surface and reveal our heritage. It alludes to that there is more to us as people than a facade.

Although John Pugh’s mineshaft seems to be a very beautiful mineshaft compared to reality – it will nevertheless pay a proud tribute to all those who dared to literally go below the surface.
