Misty Mountain 4-H sponsoring "Trick or Treat So Others Can Eat"

Misty Mountain 4-H, a new 4-H club based in Grass Valley, are collecting canned goods and nonperishables in lieu of candy this Halloween.

Members will ask for canned goods when they go to people’s doors. “Trick or Treat So Others Can Eat” will benefit the Nevada County Food Bank.

Members dressed in their Halloween costumes also collected donations on Oct. 23 and 24 at Raley’s Supermarket on Freeman Lane and Safeway on Sutton Way, both in Grass Valley, where they received more than 500 items.

They’ll return to Safeway on Sutton Way from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 30.

The group offers projects including sewing, rabbits, poultry, entomology, cooking, rocketry, herpetology, guide dogs,

wood-working and website design. Members meet at 6:30 p.m. the third Monday of each month at Church of Christ,

670 Whiting St., Grass Valley; their next meeting is Nov. 15.
