Missed point

The editorial by The Union on fashioning a tree ordinance was nice. Editors can, and do, write opinions; common sense would suggest contacting citizens with opposing views who might add some insight. They have my name and number.

The Union’s view missed the point. We do not need a new ordinance in Nevada City. Nevada City looks great because the existing ordinance has worked for close to two decades.

The council believes we need a new ordinance because Grass Valley cut down a large redwood tree. Why not create a “Hysterical Tree Sign” and hang it on our heritage tree and get on with something important, like dealing with a severe beetle infestation that threatens an entire neighborhood.

Homeowners are fed up with government that believes restricting our rights is theirs.
