Misinfo on district

I understand the serious financial and unpleasant choices being faced by public education today (e.g., Auburn Union Elementary). The Pleasant Ridge trustees have made the difficult decision to not fill the assistant superintendent position after the retirement of Jim Meshwert. Rather, the capable school principals will be assigned some of those responsibilities.

However, school principals can only be extended so far without there being an adverse effect on their own school programs. This reorganization plan will serve to save the district a minimum of $100,000 yearly. The consultant stipend is a matter of public record that was discussed openly and at length prior to the decision being made. Every financial decision of which I was a part was to ensure that every child experience the best the district could offer and that every teacher have whatever was necessary to perform to the high standards they had set for themselves and their students.

From my distant vantage point, the Pleasant Ridge District still makes its decisions based on those principles and any suggestion of self-serving “double dipping” is misguided and reflects opinion based on misinformation.
