Meet your neighbor: Julie Muscato, 28
Where I live: Grass Valley
How long I’ve lived in Nevada County: One year.
Why I like living here: The history, community feel, and the environment.
What I do in my spare time: Go to the river and the downtown Friday night market.
My family: Most of my family lives in Morgan Hill or Santa Cruz.
Favorite food: Thai.
What I like about my job: I love my job. I only work four days a week and get to talk with great people one on one. I get to be creative and help people feel better about themselves.
What I would change about my job: I’d work three days a week.
The best job I ever had: This job and when I worked as a graphic designer in a small print shop in Chico.
If I won a million: I’d invest it.
My favorite vacation: During college, I spent two months in Europe with a friend.
My dream vacation: My honeymoon. I’m getting married in October to Justin Eckhardt at the Miners Foundry. We always do low budget, but this time we’re going on a cruise in the Caribbean. And then we’re spending two days in South Beach.
My greatest accomplishment: Going to college at Chico State and earning a degree and then having the guts to do what I want to do.
What I’d change about the world: I’d change the way people treat and look at the environment.
The most important lesson I’ve learned: We need to take care of each other. No matter how little you have, the next person needs it just as much.
The people who have made the biggest difference in my life: My boss at the print shop in Chico – he treated me like a business partner – and my parents.
The best book I’ve read recently: “Shopgirl” by Steve Martin.
Favorite TV Show: “America’s Next Top Model.” I’m addicted to it.
A movie I’d recommend: “50 First Dates.”
What you should know about me: That I’m building my clientele. I’m reasonably priced and spend a lot of time with clients to help them with their hair problems.
Why did you come to Nevada County: My friends lived here. And we’d drive through it on the way from Chico to Tahoe – it looked just like a little fairy tale land.
