Meet Your Neighbor, Jeffery Hein
Where I live: A really rad area, the only house in an industrial area by Idaho-Maryland Road and East Main Street in Grass Valley
How long I’ve lived in Nevada County: 20 years
Why I like living here: It’s beautiful, and everyone I’ve ever known lives here.
What I do in my spare time: Eat, sleep, go to the river, hang out with friends, play disc golf, video games and read.
My family: I have a twin sister, an older sister, mom and stepdad, and dad and his girlfriend.
Favorite food: Tiropitas – a Greek dish made of phyllo dough, butter, feta cheese and basil.
Pets: Two turtles, Yoshi and Delilia, and fish.
Job: Computer consultant, mostly Web page design and security.
What I like about my job: It’s challenging, and I have experience and expertise.
What I would change about my job: Having to sit in front of a computer all day.
The best job I ever had: What I’m doing now – I can work at 1 a.m. or not at all.
If I won a million: I’d put it in the bank. There’s nothing I really want right now.
My favorite vacation: For three months after high school I traveled through southern Mexico, Belize and Guatemala. I read, traveled and talked to people.
My dream vacation: There are so many places to go – Bali, Hawaii. I’d want to go somewhere it’s cheap to travel.
My greatest accomplishment: Buying a house.
What I’d change about the world: Mean, selfish, greedy people.
The most important lessons I’ve learned: Do what you want with the realization that what you do affects other people.
The people who have made the biggest difference in my life: My family.
My hero: My dad for his acceptance and my mom because she sincerely cares about people.
The best book I’ve read recently: I haven’t read anything recently, which is sad, because I love reading.
My personal theme song: “Frontier Psychiatrist” by The Avalanches.
Favorite TV Show: I don’t watch TV but “Futurama,” “The Simpsons” or “Seinfeld.”
A movie I’d recommend: “Pulp Fiction.”
What you should know about me: Anyone who meets me would know what I want them to know about me.
Why I or my family came to Nevada County: My parents came to California from the East Coast to explore a new place and get away from their families. They came to Nevada County for the small-town atmosphere. There were a lot of people here that had the same ideals and views on social events, politics and child care.
