Alice Elizabeth Collins, 96, of Aurora Chapter No. 40, Grass Valley, received her 75-year pin and certificate at a meeting, Feb. 3, at the Grass Valley Masonic Center, which was also the Chapter’s 123rd birthday celebration.

In honor of Collins, a Grass Valley native, a dinner was provided by Anne Seabaugh and Leland Pauly of Aurora Chapter.

During the meeting, Collins was escorted to the altar by Louise Weber after a tribute given by Betty Lee Frost.

Collins was then presented with her pin and certificate and invited to sit in the East, where she talked of her many years of experience with Aurora Chapter.

After the meeting, valentine refreshments and an individual cake decorated with 75 years was presented to her along with roses and valentine candy.

Collins was initiated into Aurora Chapter on Feb. 6, 1928, served as warder, 1944; adah, 1945 through 1962; assoc. cond., 1963; and went on to serve as worthy matron in 1996; marshall, 1967; secretary, 1970-71, 1974-80; and deputy grand matron, 1981. She received the Eastern Star Service Award in 1992.

Collins was born in Grass Valley on June 11, 1906. She worked at the Grass Valley Post Office for 26 years. Her sister, Lorraine Keast, served as Aurora’s secretary for several years and her sister-in-law served as worthy matron of Aurora Chapter.
