MacDonald-Pels wedding

Jennifer MacDonald and Lieutenant Robert John Pels, United States Navy, were married June 10 in an evening ceremony at Point Loma Naval Base in San Diego.

The formal military ceremony was presided over by Navy Chaplain LTJG Joseph Roach.

The bride is a graduate of Bear River High School. She earned a Bachelor of Science in business management from the University of Nevada, Reno, and is a licensed private pilot. She is pursuing a master’s degree in aeronautical sciences, with specializations in aviation safety and aerodynamics from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. She is the daughter of Kent and Erika MacDonald of Auburn.



The groom graduated from Sonoma Valley High School and obtained bachelor’s degree and Master of Science in mechanical engineering from the University of California, Los Angeles. He is a pilot flying the SH-60B Seahawk while stationed at North Island Naval Air Station in San Diego. He is the son of Philip and DeDe Pels of Albuquerque, N.M.

A reception and dinner was held at the base overlooking San Diego across the harbor. The couple honeymooned on the islands of Maui and Kauai, Hawaii.
