Lottery scam

I received a certificate of award and a check in the mail for $1,992.45, supposedly from the metropolitan lottery commission. It says in the letter to contact NIC Financial Management to receive your prize money. I figured it had to be a scam, so I looked it up on the Internet and found something on ripoff.com. There were several reports about this and if you were to deposit your check they get your account number and wipe out your bank account. I’m sure there have been others in the area that have been sent out, in one of the reports someone’s neighbor had their checking account wiped out. I would like to make the public aware.
