Locker/turf war |

Locker/turf war

Regarding the locker issue at Nevada Union High School, it is not a locker versus turf issue. The Football Boosters have worked very hard for a number of years to raise the money to replace the grass/mud field with artificial turf. Kudos to them for their efforts. The parents involved with the lockers are trying to raise money to purchase new lockers for the school which will enable every student at NU to have a locker. We hope that our efforts will be as successful as those of the Football Boosters.

The first call that I received after the article ran in Friday’s The Union was from Kevin Casey, current president of the Football Boosters, with a donation of $600 to purchase a bank of lockers. Even though my phone number wasn’t printed, he tracked me down to make this generous offer. And we thank him so much for that.

Let’s not turn this into an “us versus them” battle. Let us look at this for what it is: two groups of parents working very hard to improve the school and do what is best for the students.
