Local man injured in R and R crash

A Penn Valley man suspected of drunken driving was airlifted to Sutter Roseville Medical Center after a pre-dawn crash Tuesday on Rough and Ready Highway, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Timothy Grove, 24, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and released to emergency workers, CHP spokesman Troy Marks said.

He was in fair condition Tuesday night, according to a hospital spokeswoman.

Grove suffered a broken hip and left wrist, and sustained cuts and bruises after his 1995 Toyota pickup missed a curve on Rough and Ready Highway near Ironclad Road and struck a tree at about 2:45 a.m., Marks said.
