Light the fire within

On Jan. 20, 2002, I stood in a room at Incline Village with 12 other Olympic Torchbearers to receive our final instructions for carrying the torch.

We were told of the individual stories of these people. The contributions of their communities and their personal stories of courage were overwhelming. There was not one dry eye in the room.

It is humbling to have been included with these heroes. To have been chosen to represent Nevada City as an Olympic Torchbearer is the highlight of my life. I wish that I could share the emotion, the “high,” with each of you.

Thank you dear friends. Thank you Nevada City for giving me the chance of a lifetime. I pray that I can continue for many years to help others to “Light the Fire Within.” God bless you all.
