Wake-up call

Jan 8, 2012, I nearly died in a horrific tractor/auger accident on our ranch property.

Fire Station 23, represented by Jessy Cuccia and Aaron Van De Vort, were the first responders; they arrived in 12 minutes! My neck, my collar bone, four ribs, and the clavicle bone were broken. The broken ribs punctured a lung and separated the other. My ear was half torn off as was my whole right arm, thereby severing the radial nerve.

By the time CalStar airlifted me to the Sutter Roseville Trauma Center, my body had less than two pints of blood left. I shudder to think what would have happened to me had it not been for the quick reactions of my husband, Brian, and these two professionals from the McCourtney fire station. Those of you who voted “no” on Measure B, please reconsider when the ballot comes around next spring. It could be the difference of life or death for you/and or someone you love.

My deepest appreciation goes first and foremost to Jesus Christ with whom I know my salvation is always safe. Next, I am grateful for two fine fire engineers. Their quick reactions saved my life.
