Tice-Raskin has right ‘temperament’ for judge

The Merriam-Webster online dictionary defines “temperament” as the usual attitude, mood, or behavior of a person. Having the proper temperament is a crucial attribute to any person hoping to be judge.

A judge must treat everyone who enters the courtroom with courtesy and respect. A judge must present impartiality in demeanor, words and actions. Every person who goes before a judge deserves a person who is thoughtful, respectful and fair, regardless of the merits of the case.

I met Nevada County judicial candidate Robert Tice-Raskin in February 2014. Over the course of the past nine months, I have gotten to know him as a person. In particular, I have gotten to know his temperament.

From my perspective, as someone who has appeared as an attorney in numerous courts throughout the state and as an attorney who has practiced in Nevada County for over 20 years, I can say without hesitation, Robert has the temperament of a person who should be judge.

He is impeccably qualified, both academically and in experience. Most importantly, he treats people with dignity and respect. Nevada County deserves a person of this caliber on the bench. Vote for Robert Tice-Raskin for judge on Nov. 4.
