Thoughtful acts

I want to acknowledge two thoughtful acts recognizing the recent passage of my dad, Wiley Martin.

Thank you Assemblymember Dahle (with help from Assemblymembers Chesbro and Gordon) for adjourning the California State Assembly on Aug. 14 in honor of my father’s passage, speaking about his heroism in World War II, as well as his contributions to the state’s schools as a teacher, principal and administrator, and his excellence as a father and grandfather.

Thanks also Robert Smith at the Old 5 Mile House for his beautiful rendering of my parent’s love song, “Eyes of Blue,” and his lovely toast last Thursday.
