Stephen DeSena: Old Barn Self Storage honors dads with hillside art features

We are glad people are noticing Old Barn Self Storage’s Happy Art facing Highway 20/49 in Grass Valley.

We believe that fathers who work hard to support their families and raise their children are part of the foundation of a healthy society and deserve recognition.

That’s why Old Barn, for at least five years, has had two “Happy Art” features honoring fathers on our hillside every June. One feature congratulates “Dads & Grads,” and the second depicts a man and a boy in a boat, fishing. They evoke the role of fathers in education and in binding the family together across generations. Look for both in June between the Idaho-Maryland Road and Dorsey Drive exits.

But perhaps we could depict Father’s Day more powerfully. So, we are asking the community to help.

Send your 8-1/2 x 11-inch entries depicting Father’s Day by May 15 to office@oldbarnstorage.com or mail to 175 Spring Hill Dr., Grass Valley, CA 95945.

We’ll post the entries at http://www.OldBarnStorage.com. People can vote for their favorite. The winning entry will become an 8-foot-by-8-foot Happy Art feature for a future Father’s Day. And, Old Barn will donate $250 to the nonprofit of the winner’s choice. Old Barn thanks the community for its interest over the years in our Happy Art.
