State of Jefferson could be way to deal with California woes

My parents, siblings, and I were born and raised here in Nevada City. I raised my children and buried my husband here. I have been grateful for our rural lifestyle. Things have changed.

I’ve noticed how Northern California has been under assault by over-regulation that chases away businesses. These unaccountable, unelected, unregulated, powerful agencies are choking the life out of us.

How many people have been forced to leave the area and California because of these restraints on economic viability? How many people’s lives and businesses have been destroyed by invasive government regulation and policies? Have you noticed any of this?

I support educating people so they can be better informed and influence appropriate change involving basic principles of fiscal responsibility, constitutionally limited government and free markets.

1. State of Jefferson may be a positive way to deal with California’s and Sacramento’s clear fiscal irresponsibility.

2. It addresses the lack of “representation” or voice for rural residents and businesses in Northern California counties.

3. It helps remedy the failure of the legislature to correct the inequities which favor the state’s populated areas, which has huge negative effects on rural northern counties’ abilities to thrive and control the natural resources within their own borders.

The Declaration of Independence acknowledged it is sometimes necessary for the governed to take creative action to throw off government actions harmful to the governed, in order for the governed to remain free, retaining their inalienable rights.

I love our little hamlet! Beautiful scenery, fun festivals, etc., but there is something lacking — especially in some of our citizens who believe it is their right to verbally abuse others. We all would…
