Shelly Sexton for Board of Education

I have had the pleasure of working closely with Shelly Sexton during my 20-year career as an educator within both Sutter and Nevada counties. She was also the dedicated elementary special education teacher for our daughter with significant disabilities and for that reason alone, Shelly will always be dear to our hearts.

She gained my respect as a natural leader with the utmost integrity, and compassion for children and families. She is the brightest and most knowledgeable educator I have ever worked with, a sentiment shared by many colleagues, including teachers, parents and agency partnerships she has developed and nurtured. Shelly possesses a breadth of experience as a special education teacher, an elementary school principal, and an assistant superintendent. Her skill base and experience has enhanced her ability to see the “big picture” and to forge collaborative solutions to educational problems, attributes vital to the needed change and positive direction within the County Board of Education.

Shelly believes each student deserves an educational experience grounded in researched-based best practices in a safe and nurturing environment. She understands the importance of ongoing support for our dedicated teachers and staff, while balancing fiscal responsibility, community input, and working collaboratively with board members.

Please vote for Shelly Sexton for the Board of Education on Nov. 4.
