Ronnie Warmerdam: Breast cancer detection fundraiser a success

Although the “Saved by 2nd Base” fundraising event was held in late July, donations keep trickling in.

Once again I am amazed at the generosity of participants, business owners, organizers, and the service provider herself.

Steve Loomis, Robert Bare, and Sam Warmerdam stepped up to the plate and kept the games rolling at the fifth annual softball event. Raffle items and advertising opportunities collected by Melisa Mistler (M3 mall) and her beauty queens generated excitement. Char Arnett organized the 28 gifts from local venders and individuals like B&C, Ben Franklin, Scraps Dog Bakery, Cirino’s, etc. Derick Dodson with Entercom even hooked us up with Cyndi Lauper tickets. Tofanelli’s not only donated to the raffle but they completed our date night prize package. With additional fundraising efforts from Jeri Matson (DMCE) and team sponsorships from Janie Marini, Lynn Costa — AMAH’s Heart, and Hills Flat, we were able to raise more than $8,200!

These funds are available now to be used for mammography services provided by Dr. Melisa Agness at Insight Imaging.

Breast cancer is survivable. Early detection is the key. Let me prod any of you in need, to call for an appointment today.

I love our little hamlet! Beautiful scenery, fun festivals, etc., but there is something lacking — especially in some of our citizens who believe it is their right to verbally abuse others. We all would…
