Robert Erickson: Thanks, DMV

It seems to be fashionable to complain about DMV but I believe in giving credit where it is due.

I recently had to renew my driver’s license and wanted to get a “Real ID” in the process. I found that I was unable to make an appointment that worked for me due to travel plans. So, I went in without an appointment. On advice from a DMV staffer, I arrived at 8 a.m. I was able to complete the process and depart in approximately 1.5 hours.

While the process was a bit confusing, I found the staff very willing and available to guide me through it.

I received the actual new license exactly seven days after I tested for it.

In brief, I received excellent service and have no basis for a complaint. Thanks, DMV!
