Richard Stormsgaard: War on Planned Parenthood is war on the poor

Cynthia Hren’s recent column went on about the “doctored” video picturing a still-born baby alleged to have been aborted, arousing the venom of Conservatives, now vowing to dismantle Planned Parenthood.

Conservatives have all this “love” for human embryos but very little for the individual women who may have been raped, abused, or grown up under very difficult circumstances, often in extreme poverty and without the opportunities that thankfully most women do have as they grow from girls into women.

Conservatives work hard to reduce social programs for the poor and the disadvantaged. They are against sex education, and when the morning-after-pill was introduced in the U.S. they were outraged.

Conservatives are dead-set against paid pregnancy leave and subsidized day care that could allow mothers to get and keep jobs, and perhaps break the cycle of poverty for the poor.

They put every conceivable obstacle in the way of challenged mothers being able to successfully raise children.

Planned Parenthood has been the protector of women for decades. Conservatives want to eliminate the program as their war on the poor, women, blacks, Hispanics keeps intensifying. Americans need to put a stop to Republican right-wing extremists and vote them out!
