Peter Minett: New blood needed on board of supervisors

I have lived and voted in Nevada County since 1992. The current board of supervisors has blundered and stumbled through the past several years, letting things slide, failing to actually lead or be proactive.

When they have woken up they simply follow the clamor that most closely hues to the status quo. They failed miserably to respond to the possible closure of several state parks a few years ago — they took no action until SYRCL dramatically went out and got over 10,000 signatures and began lobbying the Legislature. Only then did they start to tag along. Their stances against property rights, and of ordinary folks making, or supplementing, an income have been disastrous.

Trying to ban outdoor medical cannabis even in remote areas, wasting hundreds of thousands of dollars in lawsuits (Ridgeline), banning outdoor events like weddings, all convince me that it’s time to “throw ‘em out!” The incumbents in this supervisorial race need to go; so too with their annointed, Tea Party backed, surrogates.

I’ll be voting for Heidi Hall in District 1, and urge my friends in District 2 to vote for Richard Harris. Vote for a new board.
