Paul Livingston: ‘Trickle down’ economy should work

The trickle down economy should work. After all; consistent hard work, improving your skills, a bonus, a promotion, creating something new should pay off.

But why doesn’t it work? Because the federal tax code taxes your efforts to get ahead. Get a job, work more hours, earn a bonus, receive a promotion and the reward is to pay more tax. And a higher minimum wage raises the starting rung of the ladder of success and makes it harder for some to even reach the first rung.

Do you want a better life with a simple tax code? Replace the present federal tax code that taxes work and creativity and get rid of all the deductions and loopholes with one easy to understand progressive national sales/consumption tax system with only one tax break that helps most the impoverished and lower incomes. Congress now has 80 members that support a bill, FAIRtax HR 25/155.
