Paul Berger: Hall a person of integrity

I live in District 1, so my choice for supervisor is between Duane Strawser and Heidi Hall. Since moving to this county two years ago, I’ve become pretty familiar with its political environment. In my view, the board of supervisors has become a reactive, impulsive body that has lost touch with its constituents. From the economy-draining “events ordinance,” to the ridiculous Ridgeline lawsuit which continues to drain taxpayer dollars, to the newest disaster, Measure W, the supes suffer from a serious lack of leadership.

I think Strawser is a decent guy. But I’m troubled by his timidity in taking a stand on any of these key issues. Moreover, his willingness to take money from an organization with ties to the Tea Party despite being a Democrat until recently sends the message, even if it’s not his intent, that he can be bought. Hall has told us exactly where she stands on each of these issues. She has not been afraid to criticize the board for its blunders and call out Strawser for taking outside money from extremists. This tells me that she is a person of integrity and strength. That’s what leadership is about. I’m voting for Heidi.
