Obamacare forcing us out of affordable plans

In response to Milton McConnell’s “A letter to those who have health insurance,” I would like to say that the Affordable Care Act, or “Obamacare,” would be great if all it did was insure the uninsured and insure those with pre-existing conditions. But with the mandates, it is forcing millions of people who had insurance out of their once affordable plans.

My husband and I are one of those. We are both 60 years old and were paying $500 a month for a policy we were happy with. On Oct. 1, we got a letter from Anthem Blue Cross saying our coverage was no longer good enough under the Affordable Care Act, that our policy was changing in December and would now cost almost $1,100 a month. This is a price we cannot afford! Now we have three options — pay the higher price, check out “Obamacare” at who knows what price or go without insurance.

I am afraid “Obamacare” may force more people out of the health care system. I think it is going to ultimately be disastrous for our heath care system.
