Nancy Garcia: The friend of my friend is my friend

Our long-standing ally, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, comes to our country to deliver a message of grave importance regarding the nuclear arms treaty under negotiation with Iran. He may well have delivered one of the most important warnings of this decade, if not this century. Our “national news media,” ABC, NBC and CBS did not even cover his speech!

Please, each of you, as you sit at your dinner table tonight, look at the faces of your children (and grandchildren) and then visualize what they might look like a short 10 years from now. Will they look back at you and wonder why you allowed our government to give Iran — a country that has never told us the truth nor met treaty agreements — a negotiated agreement to produce nuclear armaments 10 years from today? Will they wonder why we did not demand to know the details of any agreement before it was signed?

How will you answer your children? Our government had another agenda? Our “Gruberized” national propaganda machine did not make me aware of the problem? We were considered too stupid to understand? Fifty-two members of Congress and most members of the current administration refused to attend the speech, so it could not possibly have been important?

May we never be asked these questions by our children. Remember — the friend of my friend is my friend!
