Melissa Hawk: We the people have options

Recently, my son and I began attending a Constitution class hosted at the Liberty Center. I was hoping to supplement his understanding of the Constitution in conjunction with the eighth-grade Constitution requirement still held by a few remaining schools.

What a gamut of emotions I went through following the first week.

Our country has strayed so far from this founding document and most people have no clue as to what has been lost. The incredible push to remove God from every jurisdiction of our lives, especially our government, has led to immense corruption and distorting of the very document our founders created. In our republic, per definition, law is based on a higher moral authority, not based on whatever the government decides. The purpose of government as stated in the Declaration of Independence is secure our God-given rights. Government’s power comes from the people. Our duty under this document is to “alter or abolish” any government that becomes destructive of this purpose. You in leadership need understand who is the ultimate authority and read this document you took an oath to uphold. We the people need to do our homework also.

We have options, it’s time to exercise them.
