Margaret Baker: Another take on Mueller’s strategy

Regarding publisher Don Rogers’ March 29 column, he states that “Mueller left that (the question of obstruction) to the attorney general to determine.” That is not at all clear.

He could have wanted to do as Leon Jaworski did. He might have wanted the undecided question of obstruction to go to Congress because he felt unable to bring charges against a sitting president by policy. So the only remedy for wrong doing by a president is impeachment. By current law though, he had to give the report to a political person first, the current attorney general.

The actions of the attorney general has certainly thwarted the purpose of having an independent special prosecutor.
