Lorraine Reich: Cell towers in downtown Nevada City?

A subsidiary of Verizon has proposed the installation of cell phone towers above Friar Tucks in downtown Nevada City. Besides the eyesore of towers in our pristine historical “gold rush” town where there are no wires above ground, will the towers present health hazards?

The City Planning Commission takes up the proposal at 1:30 p.m. on June 16 at City Hall. In the meantime, learn about EMF’s and exposure issues. Join the community in watching the film “Full Signal” at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 27 at The Open Book. “Full Signal” presents scientists and individuals all over the globe who talk about possible health and environmental effects of the prolific presence of radiation across a living planet via satellites, cell towers, military installations, wireless antennas, and all the consumer gadgets (from cell phones to Smart Meters). “Full Signal” presents one hour of startling facts, mind-twisting visuals, and wrenching emotional vignettes.

Following the film there will be a community discussion on the issues. For more information visit http://www.ncpeace.org or the Peace & Justice Center at http://www.ncpeace@sbcglobal.net.
