Lisa and Larry Lang: Thank you, good Samaritans

On Monday, Oct. 12, while travelling west on Highway 20 towards Penn Valley, the hitch on our travel trailer broke in half. The only connection it then had to our SUV was safety chains.

This situation caused severe swaying and eventual complete loss of steering control. The trailer pushed us across Highway 20 into the oncoming traffic lane and into a guard rail that prevented our plummeting down a steep slope on the side of the roadway. Miraculously, no one was hurt in this accident and no other cars were involved.

It is with heartfelt gratitude that we wish to thank the many people that came to our assistance. The gentlemen that forced open the jammed driver door and helped us out of our car, the two who took care of our dog and disconnected the propane tanks, the lady that called 911, and the many others that rushed to our assistance. Your kindness will always be remembered and appreciated.

CHP arrived quickly followed by Kilroy’s Towing Service and they too were very helpful.
