Kudos to Senior Wood Program volunteers

I’m writing to praise and acknowledge the impressive volunteer work done by the Nevada County Senior Wood Program. Jerry and Chuck, both volunteers, arrived at our place to pick-up about 15 very large and heavy oak tree rounds (each was about 14” thick X 28-36” in diameter and weighed several hundred pounds), each of which needed to be rolled (more like wrestled) up to a ramp and then up to a pickup truck, or trailer. These fellows were not young men, but their excellent physical condition and vitality was conspicuous, which they attributed largely to their volunteer work with the Senior Wood Program, a wonderful program that provides free firewood to seniors and people with disabilities. The volunteers collect the firewood from donors in the community, split it, stack it and deliver it to those in need. Quite impressive really. I believe our community is made even finer because of these guys, who do difficult physical labor in order to help those in need during the winter months. If you wish to volunteer, or donate to this truly helpful volunteer organization, they can be reached at 530-271-0255 (Volunteer Nevada County). Thanks again, Chuck and Jerry, for your fine work!
