Karyn Leigh Gross: In the event of fire, who you gonna call?

I pay my taxes and appreciate the services provided by our tax dollars. My priorities are fire, sheriff and emergency medical response. Fast.

I empathize with folks who feel angry about yet another new tax. I generally oppose more taxes, because I feel like we already pay enough. But sometimes they can literally save your life. Like Measure V. It is a special tax of $141 per year. That means 39 cents a day to save your life. Or your child’s life.

To keep all three of our Higgins Fire District Stations open, we need Measure V.

We need our local fire stations and firefighters. All of them.

Even if the fire station closest to you remains open, a closure will impact you. Response times will increase. In an emergency, every minute counts. Isn’t your family worth 39 cents a day?

Please don’t be misled by the misinformation in the ballot.

Vote YES on Measure V.

If your fire station closes, ghostbusters can’t help you.

Karyn Leigh Gross, M.D.
