Julie Jasper: New mural brightens up Smartsville

This is just a note to let you know that J&A’s Smartsville store has a new mural. Margaret Arnold, resident and well known artist, is working on a Gold Rush mural on the front of the little store.

The store, which opened two years ago after being closed for eight years, has really brought our little town back to life.

Alyson and Jacob Shortridge, the new owners, took two years to get the little building back up to standards. April 25 is Pioneer Days here in town, and the crowds are bigger every year. Everyone is coming together and the heartbeat of Smartsville is strong. I just thought this was interesting news. Margaret has been up on the roof of the store all week. Such an interesting person. And a great neighbor.
