Judy Kinney: Yes on W

In recent weeks there have been several full page ads in The Union paid for by the supporters of No on Measure W. Where this small group of local medical marijuana growers, who assure us that they are growing marijuana purely for medicine for those ailing in our community, are getting the many thousands of dollars to pay for these advertisements is a mystery to me.

Could that money be coming from outside our county? The May 25 publication was quite literally an advertisement for all the wonderful things that marijuana supposedly can do for you — practically an appeal to at least give it a try. Anyone who does not believe that this type of attitude will not encourage and abet our adolescents and youth to use marijuana has their head buried in the sand. A Yes vote on Measure W will ban all outdoor and commercial marijuana grows, and send a strong message to our youth that this community will not tolerate and does not encourage the use of this substance. Please join me in voting Yes on W.
