Joyce Wycoff: So many choices, so little time

I’m a new resident here. Unfortunately, I have a major complaint about this area. While it looks like a beautiful place with friendly people and an abundance of cultural resources, it is really a torture chamber … at least for someone who has trouble making choices.

Recently, my choices included The Producers, a circus, the new flick at the Magic Theatre, as well as a multitude of live music events and special movie showings. And, these are just the ones I know about! (Confession: Actually in spite of a hesitation about being disappointed by a “small town” production, I’ve already seen The Producers … OMG! It was incredible. Kudos to everyone involved!)

Back to my complaint … not only are there too many cultural events here … what about all the trails, lakes, rivers, hills, history and … you get the point. There’s entirely too much to do here. And, what if I miss something?

We need a central calendar … and at least a few days a month when nothing is scheduled so I can go hiking without worrying about what I’m missing.

That doesn’t seem like too much to ask for … does it?
