Jim Primrose: Nevada Union High School sports alive and well

Nevada Union High School is part of a very tough league. At one point, we were larger than the other schools in this league but now we are closer to being the same size.

Therefore, in theory, NU should have a similar athletic pool to draw upon. The cross country and track teams embrace the competition since good competition elevates the level of the athletic performance. It is very unfair to say that there has not been continued success at NU. Both the cross country and track teams have been sending athletes to the state meet each of the last few years which is the ultimate indicator of success.

And, I know that other sports have had successful athletes. An example of success this year is the varsity girls cross country team. They ran a team time at an invitational at Stanford that was faster than the girls varsity team times at the state meets in 1993, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2004, and 2005.

NU sports is alive and well and deserves our support and applause.
