Jan Berger: What’s the real price of a new dollar store?

The Union did our community a favor by publishing Virginia Moran’s opinion piece about a new Dollar Store.

I moved here in 2014 and since then have been amazed at the amount of “development,” i.e. substituting concrete instead of natural habitat with all its attending problems such as water usage, pollution, traffic etc. One more chain store may offer a few additional jobs for goods largely sourced outside the U.S. but at what price? What price does one put on the steady and widespread destruction of natural habitat with complex consequences including species extinction for our planet which is being inexorably destroyed.

Eventually there won’t be anything left for continued and senseless “development” or those left with an uninhabitable and ugly planet.
