Good government helps the greatest number of people

Patricia Lee Anderson’s letter states, “persistence, ingenuity, determination and thrift” made her survive the 80’s recession. Although hard work is to be applauded, her apartment units were supplied with water lines, sewage systems and roads that were built with public money. In the same way that Steve Jobs built Apple, the government developed the Internet. Government is a social contract: good government helps the greatest number of people. President Obama’s vision is not socialistic, but a pragmatic way of helping the greatest number of people and protecting the weakest. Assistance to others is the basis of our Judeo-Christian heritage. Improving the education system is the best way to improve our American capitalistic economy.
