Fairgrounds not a good place for elephants

My name is Darrian. I was born and raised in Nevada County, and as a current resident of this county, I was shocked and disappointed to hear that the company Have Trunks, Will Travel will be attending the Nevada County Fair this year.

I am concerned for the well-being of the elephants and the fair-goers. My concerns are that it will be dry and hot and that there will not be a big enough body of water for two large elephants. It’s a relatively small fairgrounds filled with strange people noises and smells that they might not be used to. I feel that our county should not support this type of entertainment.

I know in the long run these beautiful animals will probably not be released into the wild, but at least our county will not be supporting this continued abuse, exploitation and mistreatment of these animals. Please consider my letter if it is not too late to reject their contract.
