Diane Masini: What’s up with untrained dogs off leash?

While visiting with friends and their dogs, one of the women shared a distressing incident that happened to her a few days before with a man who not only doesn’t comply with our leash law, he can’t control his dogs, which attacked her leashed dog.

He did come to get them off the bleeding little dog, then runs with the dogs to his vehicle (a red Jeep) jumps in and drives off without saying a word to the woman who owns the dog! This incident happened at the fairgrounds near the lake in the late afternoon.

The woman, is well into her senior years tried to protect her dog but was no match for a Boxer and mixed breed Pit Bull. The man leaves without even checking to see if she and her dog were all right.

I doubt there are too many guys driving a dirty red Jeep with a Boxer and a Pit Bull mix as his companions. If you see them, stay clear. The dogs will most likely be off leash, untrained, and their owner doesn’t seem to care.

The dog will survive his wounds, but will he enjoy those daily walks as he used to?
