Deborah Wilder: Nevada County Republican Party announces endorsements

The Nevada County Republican Party has endorsed the following candidates: for Nevada County Office of Education: Ashley Neumann, District 2; Wendy Baker, District 3; and for Nevada Irrigation District, Scott Miller.

The NCRP previously endorsed Donald Trump for president, Congressman Doug LaMalfa, District 1; Congressman Tom McClintock, District 4; Brian Dahle, California State Assembly District 1; and, Ted Gaines, California State Senate District 1.

On the statewide propositions:

Oppose: 51, 55, 56, 57, 58, 59, 60, 61, 62, 63, 64, 67

Support: 52, 53, 54, 65, 66

Locally, on Measure A: Opposed, in finding that the Board of Supervisors had it within their power to fund any necessary library changes without increasing the sales tax to one-quarter of a cent. The committee supports the public library and the good work the library does, but not the increase in the sales tax.

Measure B: Opposed, in determining that the bond amount was too large and would cost voters upwards of $100-$150 million before repaid. The committee wanted more modest repairs and a better review of potential cost savings.
