Dave Hallock: Picking up Waste Management’s trash

An Oct. 31 front page in The Union stresses the need to cover trash. The article talks about keeping trash off our roads.

Wanna stop a huge portion of the trash on our roads? Then start following and ticketing Waste Management trucks.

Almost every week after they pickup the trash, I find trash in my yard. I do not have trash service so this is not from me. It comes from the neighbors’ cans when the machine hoists the cans up and dumps them.

Any wind means light things in the can or in recycling flies away and litters the roads. A quick look at the trucks says they could put a chute so that when the can turns over the waste goes down the chute into the truck.

I pick up lots of trash all year long. It gets tiresome and frankly annoying as heck that I have to pick up after Waste Management.
