Come on, Jerry — pay the overtime

It’s time for Jerry Brown to fulfill his commitment to in-home care givers and allow them the overtime pay they deserve.

Before the election last year he said he would make it right for caregivers. Now he is back-pedaling. Why is it that these people, who are for the most part among the most dedicated and compassionate workers that the state employs, being denied overtime?

Maybe the Governor thinks that money should be put toward “higher quality” projects like the fantasy train or the redistribution of Northern California water to Los Angeles. Or possibly it was just another intentional lie just like the cost of High Speed Rail.

If it weren’t for these hard working servants, many of the over 400,000 people they care for would be institutionalized at taxpayer expense! Come on Jerry! Pay out the overtime! It’s cheaper than the train to nowhere.
